Former Arsenal skipper William Gallas has asked for patience for new star signing of the club Alexandre Lacazette.

The Lyon striker joined the club recently for a record fee. Even before the season is to start there has been pressure on the French star to impress.

“We have to give him time. Sometimes it’s not easy to change country, you have to speak another language. It’s not easy to settle very quick. I know in football everything is about results so if he doesn’t score many goals people will judge him straight away. We have to give him two years to see what he can do,” Gallas pleaded.

Gallas is featuring in the ongoing Star Sixes event at the London O2 Arena as part of the French soccer legends contingent. The retired player refused to endorse the player for success at the Emirates but he generally wishes the best for his compatriot.

“In France he was a great, great player. He scored so many goals. Now he’s in the Premier League it will be a different league, a new challenge for him,” the Frenchman explained.

Lacazette started his career at Arsenal on a good note though. He scored in his pre-season debut when the Gunners faced Sydney FC in Australia this week. The 26-year old has a lot to prove if he wants to be taken seriously.

Laca, as fondly called, netted an impressive 101 goals in 203 games in the Ligue 1 but he is yet to be appreciated as much as others. Leaving his comfort zone and coming close to such feats would surely earn his the admiration of many. Arsenal for one needs his goals this term as they put up a serious challenge for the Premier League title.

The French star is touted as one that could potentially develop into something brilliant. His pace, eye for goal and skills are impressive. The player has self-control and not easily impressed like other youngsters. He says he does not have a car yet and his mother still drives him to training.

For every 70 minutes, the kid scores a goal or creates one. This is the reason the biggest clubs want him in their team. Wenger revealed that he went to his home in France to try to convince him but Monaco fought off his offer. Some French sources say the player might be open to a move to Arsenal and have the team built around him like Henry. For now he remains at Monaco.

Former Arsenal and Chelsea defender William Gallas has stated that the Gunners can win the title next season if they do not qualify for the Champions League this season.

He said that it is appearing increasingly difficult for the Gunners to qualify for the Champions League this season and he feels that this could be a blessing in disguise for them.

He said that they could replicate what Chelsea has achieved this season without the distraction of the European competitions and mount a serious bid for the title. However, he is unsure on whether Arsene Wenger will remain as manager of the team.

He said that whoever is the manager of Arsenal next season might benefit from the fact that the team is not playing in the Champions League and this could be a great way for them to challenge for the title.

Gallas believes that Arsenal are paying the price for not investing in quality players and that Arsene Wenger should change his philosophy if he wants to win the title again. He said that the best players are not cheap anymore and that the club should be prepared to invest massively if they want to improve next season.

Gallas said that Arsene Wenger is experienced enough to find out what is not working at the moment and he surely have a list of players that he will try to get during the summer.

Gallas said that Arsenal needs some more physical players as they fail to compete whenever opposing teams get physical against them.

He stated that there needs to be a collective decision taken by the board and the manager to ensure that the team progresses. He said that to win the Premier League you need to invest massively and he feels that Arsenal has not been doing so in recent years.

The 39 year old retiree William Gallassaid: “When you play away from home, you have to be ready physically and mentally. Sometimes, Arsenal want to play perfect football too much. Sometimes you have to say, ‘No, stop.’ You have to be solid at the back, reply physically, and after that you impose your style of play. And unfortunately with Arsenal, it’s not like that.”

During the playing career of William Gallas, he spent 4 years performing with the Arsenal jersey and the Frenchman believes that Arsene Wenger needs to stop attempting to implant his own philosophies and teach his team to scrap for points in their away games.

Whether or not Arsenal win the Premier League is something that only time will tell but Gallas is certain that Wenger follows his advices, they are going to have a better chance of accomplishing their primary goal.

William Gallas is a former Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur player who has recently revealed his thoughts concerning the eternal rivalry between those clubs.

The Frenchman believes that when both of those clubs face off, this derby has suffered a significant change as it has turned more tactical and less physical.

“I wouldn’t say the derby is more intense now because I remember playing in this game and it was more intense physically and the impact of the game was more intense too. I hope the derby on Sunday will be electric. I remember 10, 15 or even 20 years ago; all the players were fighting for the ball and running everywhere. They always had big arguments on the pitch and I think the fans were very proud to see their players fight hard to win this game. “Now it changes a little bit, it’s more tactical.’’ William Gallas said.

Gallas spent around 4 years performing with Arsenal and when his contract ran up, he opted to make a switch to their rival club Tottenham Hotspur which is something that angered many fans.

The 39 year old Frenchman is a retiree that has had many issues in the past with other players and even with his own teammates as he was named as the coach of Arsenal on 2007 but in the following season, he was removed from that role after Gallas had publicly criticized his own teammates during an interview.
